Wisconsin Academy of Sports is a program, which has been structured for the true development of sports skills. This indirect approach to development has proven very successful for program director Carl Gardner. This type of training originated in 1990, while coach Gardner was involved with camps for soccer and track and field. It uses a combination of dynamic mobility training, rhythm training, neuromuscular training, and developing the basic skills needed to successfully excel in sports. This program has been successfully used in communities such as Cedarburg, Brookfield, Hartford, Green Bay and the Fox Valley. This training has also been used as part of skill development for kids through the YMCA camps in Appleton.

Coach Gardner used this program to assist with the development of numerous State and Regional Olympic Development Program players. Additional players that trained under this program are now playing for NCAA College programs at DIV 1, 2, & 3 throughout the nation. Coach Gardner was selected in 2000 and 2001 to coach high school boys from around the nation at Tourney Sport USA at Brigham Young University Hawaii on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. He was also selected in 2001, 2003 and 2006 to coach student athletes from around the world at the USA and World Scholar Athletes games at the University of Rhode Island. Coach Gardner led his team of players 2001 from seven countries to the championship title with an undefeated record of 12-0, 2003 Team USA finished 3rd place, and 2006 Team Brazil finished 2nd with a record of 7 wins and 2 losses.

 

 Coach Gardner was born in Jamaica, West Indies. He moved to the US at age 9 where he grew up in the Bronx, N.Y. He played his college soccer for Mt. Senario College, The 1979 DIV III NLCAA National Champions. Carl earned a BS in Physical Education with an emphasis on Coaching. He has coached soccer and track for over 28 years.

Coach Gardner presently serves as the Assistant Soccer Coach at Lawrence University and girl's Head Track and Field coach at Appleton West high school. His ability to develop highly skilled athletes is well respected by fellow coaches and others throughout the state of Wisconsin and around the country.

-         *Numerous tournament titles from around the country as head coach of G-Force

    *Wisconsin Girl’s Premier League runner-up and division champion coach

-          *Speed Enhancement Training for club, high school and college athletes

-          *Developed the Wisconsin Women’s U23 league in 2001and lead the team to the finals in 2002.

-          *Founder of Wisconsin’s Women’s Tri-State Premier Soccer League and Women’s Tri-State Cup Championships in 2004
